Reshaping the conversation
A holiday dinner with family and friends always sparks
insightful conversation at mealtime, but such discussions also reveal alarming
truths. For example, despite the cornucopia of food embellishing the dining
table, one may have found out that a loved one is afflicted with opioid use
disorder. Such a discovery is not that uncommon, as our society is in the midst
of an opioid epidemic.

Heroic Dog Man celebrated
To start the new year
with a bang, the Youth Services division of the Bethlehem Area Public Library
threw a party for fans of Dog Man, a hugely popular series of graphic novels
for children. About 50 kids and parents attended, the kids working
enthusiastically to make hand puppets of Dog Man and his nemesis, Petey. They
also created “flip books” featuring the hero and the villain. The activity room
on the library’s second floor was jumping. Photo: Jayden Torres and Damian Mejia, both of Bethlehem,
made puppets of the “good” guy, Dog Man, and the “bad” guy, Petey. Mischievous
smiles suggest they may be on Petey’s side.
